Last week our family ventured out to finally get our Christmas tree. We had planned on doing it a couple of times before, but something kept coming up to prevent that from happening; hence, we went out on Monday night when we knew we wouldn’t even be able to decorate it until the next day. (That killed me.)
It was so much fun. I’m finding that it’s a completely different and completely wonderful experience to do things as a family, rather than just as a couple. I know Leah had no idea whatsoever what we were doing. (In fact, I’m pretty sure that she thinks that once the weather turns cold, Mommy and Daddy lose their minds and all sorts of weird things start happening.) In any case, here are some pictures from the evening. Pictures of the completed tree are coming soon. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe not.
“Can we get that one, Daddy? I like the lights, and it’s BIG!”
“Never mind. I want this one. This is the one I want. This is the one, Mommy.”
“Ooh! Pine needles!”
“This dude’s kind of freaking me out a little. I’m out of here.”
“What’s the noise? I don’t think I like chain saws.” (And don’t knock the fake snowy trees. We take what we can get in Georgia.)
Yes, that guy’s standing on the ground. Yes, he really is that tall. No, his name isn’t Paul Bunyan, and no, he doesn’t have a blue ox.
“Let’s go home!”

read about a miracle and forward on to anyone that is feeling hopeless....Christmas is the season of miracles..
Woah! That guy is really tall!!!! Were you on the bus with me in Spain when there was that GIANT Spaniard on the bus and we were like, "Weird!" because Spaniards were generally shorter than us?
I am so excited to see how Leah will react to all of this since she's much more cognitively aware than Noelle. To Noelle EVERYTHING is new, so a weird tree in the livingroom is just an additional cool thing to look at. With Leah, however, things are probably much more exciting and adventurous as she is at that wonderful age of discovery!!!
...and they put fake snow on real trees down there? I've never heard of that! The lady next door to us has a white artificial tree with purple garlands, but it's fake.
And I also thought the little snowman was funny and ironic!
Your tree-hunting story is cuter than ours. I'll have to post about our experience. Don't know that I like going tree-hunting with Dad. It's like.....three minutes. But the tree is up and the decorations are getting there. The whole experience is so much sweeter with a little one to share it with.
precious...love the music on your blog too!
