So, who was thinking, “Uh-oh…..what did Leah do to their Christmas tree?” or, “Did she knock it down? Has sweet Leah’s mischievous side emerged?”
Anyone?
If so……I’m happy to report that nay, she has done no such thing.
We decorated the tree, obviously, with Leah in mind. Anything breakable and/or chokeable (pretty sure that’s not a word, but you catch my drift) and/or of tremendous sentimental value was placed far out of her reach. The lighter, more kid-friendly ornaments were placed front and center which, as it turns out, was an easier solution than I ever imagined.
That little angel bell has its own special branch, and first thing every morning, Leah heads right for it. She plucks it off its perch and carries it around for awhile. When she gets bored with it, I put it back and before long, she recovers it again. Over and over again. It has only been today that she has decided that some of the other items on the tree are fascinating and has pursued them with a keen interest. Because of that, the tree doesn’t look quite like this anymore…some of that being our doing, and some of that being Leah’s doing. She’s very interested in the needles that have fallen off onto the carpet, too, which results in a fair amount of finger sweeping through her drooly mouth. We do what we can.
Generally, though, it’s been a good experience so far. She wanders over and gazes at it from time to time while she’s playing, clearly mesmerized by the lights, and likes to touch the branches. It hasn’t been completely easy, by any means, but it has gone far more smoothly than I had feared.

3 of your thoughts:
Wow! Amazing! Story wasn't quite so sweet. She pulled the tree right over as soon as she got the chance. It's a tiny tree though, so we just improvised by sitting it up on a table. :-D
I'm glad to hear that she has taken a notice to it. How could she not, huh? Is she talking to the ornaments? I love that little bell ornament.
my word verification? harks
I love how you took the pictures of the tree from Leah's perspective!
