“When We Were Little” Wednesday

WWWLWednesday_Page_0

When I was little, I don’t remember a whole lot about the bedtime routine I did every night, but I do know that there were some things that happened often, if not every. single. night. That’s a good thing.

For one thing, my dad would read to my sister and me pretty much every night. He’d come into our room, pull my desk chair closer over to our beds, and commence reading whatever our latest reading selection was. He read all sorts of things to us, from a biography of Abraham Lincoln to a couple of the Anne of Green Gables books. It was awesome – he had such an animated way of reading, and each of the characters would come to life.

Also, I can remember many nights of falling asleep to the soft tunes of the light music station in our area, Light 98. (It’s not on the air any more. Now it’s anything but light, playing anything and everything.)

One of the last things Ashley and I would tell our mom when she tucked us in and turned out our lights was, “Being me in some tea!” We loved when she would come into our room after we had gone to sleep and bring us each a tiny juice glass of tea. Probably not the best thing for our teeth…but it really was a tiny little glass, and more often than not we wouldn’t even drink the whole thing. Besides, it was better to do it that way than have us wandering around the house in the middle of the night to get something to drink on our own.

I’m sure there are others…but it’s kind of late and time for me to do my current bedtime routine.

This picture has absolutely nothing to do with this week’s topic….but I thought it was really cute. Check me out!

Love the Diaz CD and Michael Buble was waiting for me when I got home today. I had completely forgotten that I'd won it, too.
