A couple of weeks ago Leah was tugging and pulling at one of her ears more than usual. She has always done this a lot when she’s sleepy, but for a day or so there, it was almost like she was mad at her right ear. She was obviously irritated at it, and this obviously worried me. We made an appointment with the doctor and went to have her little ears checked.
There was no fluid in her ears, but one was red back toward the eardrum; just to be safe, the doctor gave us some antibiotics.
Leah is a big fan of the medicine.
No, really. She is.
She thinks it’s a special treat. She gets it a couple of times a day, and every time I pull the now-familiar pink bottle out of the refrigerator she is thrilled. She reaches for it with eagerness. Once the little syringe squirter is loaded up, she pops her mouth open and leans in, ready to take it with gusto. She slurps it down and I have to put the bottle away immediately or my daughter – silly girl – thinks she’s getting amoxicillin for breakfast or dinner or a snack and – silly, silly girl – loves the idea.
Hs anyone else had this experience? I thought kids weren’t supposed to like medicine…?

5 of your thoughts:
The pink stuff tastes great. Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that they make medicines taste good these days.
Collin loves Motrin! Weird, but makes it easier for us. That's what we use for teething. He doesn't get it too often, though, so he gets excited about it.
Oh my goodness I can't WAIT to see Leah with your tree! She's at that age where it could be some very amusing trouble! Some ornaments will have to be very very high!!! I'm sure you'll post lots of picture and even some video (fingers crossed) so I don't have to even ask! But really, move move move on getting that tree up so I can discover Leah's Christmas with you soon!
Story loves cherry tylenol! But I can see why. It's super tasty. lol Maybe the pink stuff tastes awesome. You can never tell with medicines.
We love Amox., Tylenol and Motrin. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! There are majoy fits when I "meanly" say, "Sorry, you may only have 1tsp." (or whatever the dosage) Also, vitamins. No problems here. I will say that we had lots of strep and ear infections when the kids were little and I'm very thankful the medicine was not an added stress. When your baby doesn't feel good it helps to know they want the meds. Hope Leah's feeling better. She sure is growing. What a cutie!
