Velcro

Leah had this to say this morning at breakfast:

At the time, I thought she was talking to me all about the velcro on her bib (since she was obviously fascinated by it). A couple of hours later, though, it became clear to me that she had been telling me her plans for the day. She had a big day planned for herself. First on her list?

TAKING HER FIRST STEPS ON HER OWN!

Yep! We have a walker! (Lord, help us.) I was laying on the floor playing with her this morning when she used my leg to pull herself up to standing. She let go...I told her to "come on," and she took two relatively confident steps all by herself! Then she plopped down on her bottom, chuckled the famous Leah chuckle, and kept playing with her toys.

Too cute for words. She had no idea what she had just done, nor did she realize it the other few times she's done it this afternoon. She has no clue that she has taken the first of billions and billions of steps that she will take in her lifetime. It's exciting to think about where those steps might take her.

I don't know how you missed it. I heard it clearly that that was her plan for the day. I can't wait to see it for myself. And I've watched and laughed at this video a half dozen times. I love that sound!
After spending the better part of the day with Ashley Marie I can't help but to wonder what it's going to be like when the two of them get together and are able to go full-tilt.

Now that she's got those little teeth, maybe she's tickling her tongue when she does that. I've watched it again 2 or 3 times. Dad and I have laughed and laughed at her. Oh, gosh. What fun!

peedda....isn't that some sort of bread?

As awesome as it was to hear about her taking her first steps from you, hearing her "talking" about it was SO MUCH more awesome! Dave and I were very much enganchados by the video. The "Doddle doddle doddle" noise is SO CUTE! You should have Nina analyze it! I'm sure she could tell you exactly where Leah (I almost typed Noelle!) is in her language stage and why. I know that those noises emerge right before she starts to say words, but that's where my knowledge ends. It's so SO exciting! Oh, I wish I could meet her! She's just getting so big and cute!!!
