Every. Single. Time.

DSCF6918

Leah has developed 1) a skill at rolling over at incredible speeds before I even realize what has happened, and 2) a hatred of being on her back on the changing table.

Fun times.

As soon as I get her laid down on the table, she cries.

As soon as I reach to get a diaper out of the drawer, she seizes the opportunity and rolls.

It doesn’t matter that I have my hand on her belly to “stop” her from moving. It doesn’t matter that I repeatedly say, “no,” and get right in her face. It doesn’t matter that I try to stop her mid-roll by grabbing her leg and pulling it back in the direction from which she has come. (I promise it’s not as hostile as it sounds.) It doesn’t matter that I give her little toys to hold onto and distract herself. She will roll, and she will roll now.

Have you ever tried to change a baby’s diaper when said baby is on her belly? Yeah.

We may have to retire the changing table, because I’m terrified that she’s going to get all excited in her rolling and hurt herself. Plus, she’s gotten so long that she’s really almost too big for it anyway….

Ahh…the unforeseen challenges….. It’s just a phase, and soon we’ll have forgotten all about this. Soon, we will have moved on to a completely new phase. For now, though, I keep a hand on my rolypoly and pray she doesn’t fall.

I know how you feel. I guess it's a good thing that I have never used a changing table. I was always so nervous about them. Instead, I just use a blanket or something.... it works fine and I'm such a pro by now that I never get anything dirty!

It's cool to see her on that thing cz it helps me compare her size to Noelle's. :-)

What a cutie! My son is always trying to sit up when I'm changing him. They just don't like to stay still too long, do they? :)

*L* She looks quite proud of herself on her belly too!

I always changed mine on the floor on a receiving blanket or whatever was around. I'd open a new diaper, slide it under the old one they were wearing, wipe 'em down, whip the old one out and wrap the new one on, lickety split. I baby sat my friend's boy who was a twister like this. Knees up near the ears were the best defense *L*

The one thing I never taught mine to do was say "thank you" when I was done - which they can say in sign language *L*
