I was recently given the chance to try some 100% pomegranate juice from POM Wonderful. The company sent me several bottles to try, and I eagerly did just that.
The juice, if you’ve never tasted it, is very similar to cranberry juice. It has the same tang and bite that gets you under your tongue. (Does that make sense?) It’s really good just as it is, but because its flavor is pretty strong, I was eager to try another way to drink it. I did a little research and found a pretty incredible smoothie recipe using pomegranate juice. We didn’t have several of the cursory ingredients (like protein powder and flaxseed) but we had enough to make the basic recipe. That basic recipe has now become a regular part of our diet. Even Scott likes it!
Here it is:
1 cup POM Wonderful pomegranate juice
3/4 cup milk
1 large banana, broken into chunks
2 ice cubes
~1 tbsp honey
It is so good!
I’ve had other pomegranate juices before, but after trying POM’s 100% pomegranate juice, I realize that the other ones I had must have been really watered down because the flavor was nowhere near as intense. POM Wonderful’s juice is 100% natural, and is really, really good for you, too. (Their website is chock full of health and nutrition information, which I won’t rehash for you here.)
I highly recommend it!

Thanks for the recipe. That really does sound delicious!
I've heard that pomegranate is packed full of antioxidants, which are a big cancer fighter. I'm gonna send this post link to my hubby and we're gonna try this!

I've never had much of a taste for pomegranatejuice (or the fruit) but the idea of it in a smoothy sounds doable. I'll have to give it a try

YUM! Sounds delish... I will have to try ;)
Hey Jessica-
How ever did you get free POM juice? I love it, but it is so expensive, so I can rarely purchase it.
Cheers!
Thanks for your comments, Jess. It means so much when I can tell they are heartfelt and sincere! It's funny how you said that growing up is fluid and feeling like you are playing house. After two and a half years, I'm starting to feel like I am actually in a relationship and it's not all pretend (not in a fairy tale way, but in a surreal way)...all so strange! I guess we get used to our lives as they are alot more than we think! Been a busy weekend, but I'll be back soon!
