Last week, my sisters and mom and I were at Goodwill. Ashley and I always talk about how we think some things are really sad to see in Goodwill, e.g. wedding dresses, etc. This time, though, she found this, and it beats anything sad we’ve ever seen there.
It’s a little “Hello Kitty” notebook…but the sad thing is what’s inside.
“I love you and I miss you. Me and Mommy miss you. My Dad is working in Iraq. I can’t wait for you to drive us to Disney World. I can’t wait to see you again, Daddy.”
That just broke our hearts, and for fifty cents, I had to buy it. I couldn’t stand leaving it there.
Lord, please be with this little girl and her family. Watch over them. Keep her daddy safe in Iraq, and protect the rest of the family while he is away. Help her to understand why he’s gone, and to be proud of him for the work that he is doing. Bring him home safely, and allow them to have a family vacation to remember. Amen.

Wow...How did that end up at Goodwill? Glad you bought it. I prayed right along with you!!
Wow. I think I might cry. I can't imagine Noelle not being able to see her daddy like that. Only five months old and she still rejoices when he comes home after being gone for a few hours. The thought breaks my heart. That is such a little treasure to pray over. I'm glad you gave it a home.
I am so glad you bought it and gave it a good home. Poor little girl. These glimpses into another life are no accident.
Our shelves are from Lowe's and I put them together ALL BY MYSELF!!! Dave, the Fix-it guru, didn't help me at all! And there are baskets you can buy to stick in the little boxes. I plan on doing that eventually. But I want woven ones, and not the canvas ones that are made to go with it so I'm waiting to find the right size :-D
And yes, I was able to add more storage. I realized that I'd bought something through Google accounts before because one of the diaper sites I buy from uses it, so once I found that record I realized it was safe
Thanks so much for your help!!!
oh my goodness!! i would've broke down and bawled. i would've bought it too!! i can't believe it was there!
Oh...man.
I'm glad you took that little notebook home with you. God may have allowed that to come to you just so that family would have people praying for them.
I also wanted to thank you for praying for the little children I mentioned on my blog. I can't thank you enough!
:( That is so sad. And sweet.
And hopefully it is an old, old journal and she is now reunited with her daddy!!
I tried responding to your comment but I don't think your account is set up to email you back when you leave a comment - anyways, here is what I said:
If you do it I would love to come!! :)
When I do the one for the ladies I was going to see if you wanted to come. There is one other blogger in the area that I know... Well she lives in Vidallia but her son goes to asu so she is here a lot. I was going to invite her too.
I would love to do a "blogger" thing sometime but you and the other lady are the only two local bloggers I know ;)
